Uniform
Your uniform says that you are a Scout! Wear it with pride. The uniform not only identifies you as a Scout, but as a member of Troop 374. Many awards that you earn are worn on the uniform.
You are required to be in correct uniform at all times. New scouts have 1 month to purchase a uniform. (Neckerchiefs are provided by the troop)
There are several different uniform combinations worn. You are responsible for knowing the correct "uniform of the day".
As a general but not hard and fast rule, the
Class A or "full" uniform (with the neckerchief for scouts below First Class, bolo tie for Scouts First Class or above and Adult) are worn at troop meetings and to and from all other campouts and functions. Full dress ceremonial occasions like Council/District activities, Courts of honor and Scout Sunday require the wearing of the troop neckerchief or bolo, merit badge or Order of the Arrow sashes for all scouts except Adults.
Summer uniform:
Short-sleeve scout shirt
Olive green “zip off” or other shorts
Green web belt
Scout socks (green/red)
Sneakers or hiking boots
Neckerchief or bolo (depending on rank)
Winter uniform:
Short-sleeve scout shirt
Long Olive green “zip off” or other pants
Green web belt
Dark socks
Sneakers or hiking boots
Neckerchief or bolo (depending on rank)
See the Scout Handbook for proper placement of patches.
Class-B uniforms are for hiking and work projects and troop meetings immediately following camp outs for those scouts who attended the campout.
Class-B uniforms are the same as the full uniform from the waist down. A Scout T-shirt of any design or plain white T-shirt is the top.
The Senior Patrol Leader will hold regular uniform inspection with special awards for Scouts or patrols with the highest score.
Summer uniform is worn generally April through October.
Winter uniform is worn generally November through March.
Update BSA has recently updated the Official Scout Uniform. The "old" uniform is still an official Scout Uniform and you do not need to replace it with the new one until you are ready or need one due to size change, wear, or other need. In order to be consistent in the troop, we are switching to the new green shoulder loops and numbers for all members. Email if you have any questions or ask at the next meeting.
